Spinal sonograms fill the void between other imaging
procedures such as X-Rays and MRI's and allows
us to assess irritation to soft tissues. There is no
discomfort, and is safe for patients of any age. The
scanning procedure is performed by a Certified
Ultrasound Technician and are reviewed by a Board
Certified Radiologist.
Trigger Points are small "knots", or areas of spasm
within a muscle. Trigger Point Therapy works to relieve
chronic muscular pain. Causes of these "trigger points"
are accidents, misuse, overuse, misalignments, disc
and other spinal problems caused by an injury. The
resulting inflammation, along with emotional stressors
cause the muscle cells to contract and cause neck and
back pain, headache, sciatica, shoulder pain, tennis
elbow, knee pain and ankle pain.
EMG (Electromyogram) measures the electrical
activity of a muscle. NCV (nerve conduction velocity),
measures the speed and intensity of electrical signals
that travel along the nerve. These tests are important
to detect the cause of muscle weakness, numbness,
spasms, paralysis or pain. It determines if the problem
involves nerves, muscles, spinal cord or brain. The
test gives objective evidence of pinched nerves, carpel
tunnel syndrome, and other more serious muscle
and or nerve disorders such as muscular dystrophy,
myasthenia gravis and Lou Gehrig's disease.
Medical massage therapy is a therapeutic treatment
that will focus on specific ailments such as tendonitis,
carpel tunnel syndrome, sciatic pain, headache,
spastic muscles, etc.
This is a sensory test that will substantiate and
document with objective evidence the need for
continued treatment. This test can show us if the
nerve irritation is at the spinal level or in the extremity.
Positive results qualify the necessity for the EMG and
NCV nerve tests.
For No Fault patients we have the patient sign #21 on
the No Fault-3 assignments of benefits form and will
arbitrate or litigate any denial of claims. You can
rest assured that no out of pocket expenses will
be incurred by your client no matter how long
they continue to treat after their claim has been
denied. Our staff attorney handles all denials and
gets paid by the insurance company! This is a
great service you can offer your clients.
We obtain a complete case history and perform
a thorough physical examination of posture,
reflexes, muscle strength and range of motion. If
necessary, additional diagnostic methods such as
x-rays, MRI and blood work will be used to guide
us in creating an individualized care program. We
are able to use MRI facilities that will take image
in flexion and extension, lying down and standing
up. NOT just lying down in the neutral position.
This enables us to see disc herniation and/or other
pathologies we would not have otherwise seen. In
addition, we work closely with other health care
providers, such as orthopedists, neurologists, and
pain management doctors in the community. We
will make referrals to the providers if necessary to
obtain the best treatment for the patient.
The plan of care is composed of two stages. During
the first stage, initial intensive care, treatment
is directed toward reducing or eliminating the
most obvious symptoms. Visits may be frequent
depending upon the severity of the condition.
The objective of the second phase of treatment,
rehabilitative care, is to stabilize spinal functions
and promote continued healing.
We work hand in hand with Physical Therapists
to add to the quality of care given to our patients.
They have a wide range of modalities and exercise
rehabilitation equipment to help each patient
attain their individual goals.
